Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation preserves the social memory of two of Portugal's most important democratic figures.

The Mário Soares and Maria Barroso Foundation exists to protect and promote freedom, tolerance, solidarity and equity. The centenary of Mário Soares coincided with the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, a key moment in his life's work. This was an opportunity to create a website that would leave a legacy.

We designed a bold and contemporary digital experience that reflects the political and historical values that Mário Soares and Maria Barroso fought for throughout their lives. The design speaks with the same directness as their legacy.

The platform carries extensive content: biographies, a timeline of events, bibliographies for both figures, and an up-to-date programme of foundation activities and events. Everything is structured to make the material accessible and navigable, without ever reducing it.

Since launch, the website has grown significantly in visitors and has become an important resource for anyone wanting to understand the democratic memory it was built to preserve.
